The Make it Cheaper team have over 80 staff based in our Sydney office. Ranging from our energy consultants to our senior management, each of our staff are dedicated to the Make it Cheaper mission of saving you time and money and making your life easier when it comes to energy bills.
Fred van der Tang| CEO
As the CEO of Make It Cheaper, I believe small businesses are the lifeblood of the Australian economy and I'm passionate about saving them as much time and money as possible. The service our small business offers boosts other small businesses' profits and prospects for growth. I joined MiC in March 2017 after falling in love with what we do, as well as how we do it: with passion, expertise and based on deep, trustworthy relationships with our customers and the energy retailers we represent.
Before joining MiC, I have been in leadership roles in service focused organisations in range of markets (technology, outsourcing, HR services and recruitment). I’ve had the privilege of working in a number of countries in Europe as well as work on a Global level, before coming to Australia in 2011.
Outside work I am a family man, with a love for sports (I am a proud Iron Man), travel and music.
Jeremy Elliot| Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder
Jeremy is the COO and Co-Founder of Make It Cheaper Australia. Prior to Make It Cheaper Jeremy worked within the finance industry for over 14 years, implementing world-class business critical technology systems for some of the leading investment banks.
In 2009 he joined the Make It Cheaper UK team before heading out to Australia later that year to set up the business in Sydney. Over the past 7 years he and the team have grown the business from start-up phase, to a successful medium sized business saving tens of thousands of customers millions of dollars on their energy bills. The business has developed excellent in-house systems all of which are geared toward delivering an exceptional customer experience.
He and the team are passionate about making it easy for businesses to save time and money on their energy bills.
Tim Davies| Chief Financial Officer
Tim joined the Make It Cheaper team in April 2014, having returned to his home town of Sydney after living and working in the UK for 15 years.
He is a chartered management accountant having qualified with CIMA in 2007 and also holds a Bachelor of Business , from the University of Newcastle, NSW.
Prior to accepting the challenge at Make It Cheaper, Tim was a Financial Controller for one of the UK’s largest construction companies, working for Morgan Sindall Group for 10 years. Tim’s finance experience also spans the recruitment sector, where he worked for 3 years at one of Adecco Group’s companies.
Tim strongly believes that, "Having worked abroad allows me to draw on a wide range of experiences and offer commercial insight from a different angle. The key focus for me is ensuring the continued growth in the value of the business, whilst adhering to our financial and business principles; this will ensure we to continue to offer our great service to clients and partners alike."
Doug Payne| Sales Director
Doug joined Make It Cheaper in February 2017. He brings to MiC a strong B2B and residential sales background in energy having worked for the energy industry for the past 12 years.
The future of the energy industry and it’s ever changing landscape is what keeps him motivated to be a part of something amazing and drives his passion for sustainable energy solutions. “I work for a company that has the expertise to service our customers, passion for our employees and trust in the industry to do it time and time again with our new innovative product called “Do It for you”. I also love a strong cappuccino with one sugar and AFL”.
Mark Driscoll| Head of Strategic Partnerships
Mark leads the Strategic Partnerships division at Make it Cheaper, where he responsible for developing solutions which meet the needs of a wide range of Association and ecosystem partners and their respective members and customers.
With more than 20 years’ prior experience in the media industry, Mark has a strong focus on building profitable long term relationships and has worked for multi-national publishers including News Corporation and Bauer Media, where he was responsible for delivering dynamic marketing solutions across a broad range of industry and consumer segments.
